Another Year

Some counterprogramming for the most disappointing blockbuster summer in ages.  Available from Netflix. Another celebration of life from the underappreciated Mike Leigh.  The standout character and performance for me? Martin Savage. Sure some of it feels a little strained. The black nurse who pops up twice then disappears. The refusal to let a romance happen for our pathetic middle aged single woman. Nonetheless, it works and works handsomely.
