The Hollywood Fringe Festival

Tonight is closing night for Pedestrian, the one act play I directed as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival.  It’s been fun and great to support a female playwright.  A few observations.

There’s some great theatre work being done in Los Angeles.  Support for it? Meh.

I guess the only hope is collectivization.  Translation: a company is the only way.  One-offs require way too much effort and multi tasking. We’ll see more women directors and playwrights when more women band together.

I like the way my craft is evolving.  While the execution wasn’t perfect, this is the first time that I’ve been fully satisfied with my understanding of and concept for the play.

Looking forward to restaging it for the Minneapolis Fringe.

Having terrific colleagues makes all the difference.  Let’s hear it for the English dept.!

Now back to writing articles and making stuff.
