Bishop Paul Morton lovingly calls out Bishop Eddie Long

My hat is off to Bishop Paul Morton for lovingly but firmly calling out Bishop Eddie Long. Bishop Long recently settled sexual misconduct lawsuits with four young men.

Bishop Morton is only a few miles down the road from New Birth, Bishop Long’s church.  His voice is what true leadership and integrity look like. Bishop Morton made my pastor and Rev. Long bishops in the Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship at the same time several years ago.

I’ve been disgusted by the secrecy and silence surrounding this.  My pastor used to have Bishop Long —  his road dog, the only man he would trust with his wife (an older relative said, hilariously, I guess so!) —  visit our church at least once a year.  He hasn’t uttered Long’s name from the pulpit since this mess began.

Apart from Bishop T.D. Jakes, I’ve not heard a single pastor call for prayer for all involved: the young men as well as Bishop Long.  Perhaps some have, but the overwhelming public impression is that only Bishop Long needs or deserves prayer.  I believe something foul went down. These young men, however flawed, have been harmed. And the whole of the African American community needs sexual healing in the worst way.
