Tornado Season

A large tornado sweeps through Limestone County, south of Athens, Ala., near Stewart Road, Wednesday afternoon, April 27, 2011. Photo: The Decatur Daily, Gary Cosby Jr. / AP

300 people killed.

100s injured.

Property destroyed.

Lives crushed.

Some will never recover.

Devastating.

The majority of the damage so far has been in Alabama. My maternal grandfather was from Birmingham. His family ran the Nelson Bros. Cafe for many years. I still have some family in Bessemer.

My prayers are with the victims, especially for the long haul.  The road back is as treacherous as the tornadoes themselves.
