“Los Angeles school district will sharply raise taxes on property owners. A little-known provision allows L.A. Unified to take such action to make payments on bond debt from its massive school construction project.”
Howard Blume, Los Angeles Times, 8.15.09
One of the worst legacies of Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Franken, and the Crosstalk model is that the sneer has become waaaay too popular.
Sorry but disdain and contempt, jeers and snorts do not a political strategy make. Especially when the joke is ultimately on you.
Many people noticed that the Los Angeles Unified School District was building schools for students that no longer existed with money that was vanishing. Yet no one had the political will, focus, balls, courage, foresight to try to find a solution. Some thought they were safe because their kids are in private school, they had no kids, their kids were grown. LAUSD is a disaster anyhow. It’s getting what it deserves.
Well, turns out the joke is on all LA property owners or what’s left of them.
Was that a devil in the details people were scoffing at?
