It’s All About the Work

This morning, I kicked out an outline of what is probably going to be a pretty groovy ad campaign for a real client, with real resources courtesy of Adam Fox, a new partner in crime.

How did this happen?

Working at the craft.  Directing the one act play.  Finishing Ghettopreneurs.  Finally 😉

And building the right team.  Things have only moved along because of Adam Fox, Jeffrey McCracken, Aunt Bobbie, Tywana Wright Sutton, Mrs. Givens, Samora Suber, the Oasis ladies.  It is a great and awesome thing to be loved.

Filmmakers are the only artists I know who don’t make things regularly.  And I include folks like Tarentino who really haven’t made that many movies.

All the networking in the world can’t stand up to a finished bit of work. Completion is profoundly satisfying even if the results are disappointing or unexpected.

Work begets work.  Training creativity like a muscle is what produces excellence. From now on, I commit to reconnecting to my NYC roots and making work happen regularly whether the assignments are walking in the door or not.

I’ve been smiling like a Cheshire cat since I began this journey this summer.
