Conquering the Eating Out Demon

Look at your 401(k) or the collection notices.

Breathe deeply.

Wash your Tupperware.

Commit to one less day of eating out.  Make that one day of spending nothing.  I like to call it money free Mondays.  Don’t buy one thing:  newspaper, magazine, snack, latte, lunch special.  Nothing.  Leave your credit card and debit card at home.  It will be hard.  You are disrupting a relationship that you were relying on for comfort, self esteem and status.

You’re an addict.  You must sneak up on the monster and conquer it gradually.

The key.  Buy something you really want to eat.   If you can’t afford it like that any more, stretch it.  An example follows.

Gypsy Salmon Salad

2 cans of .99 store salmon

1/4 lb. grilled salmon (fresh or frozen), well seasoned

mayo or yogurt

green, yellow, red peppers. –  defrosted and patted dry

celery

a mixture of onions (green, yellow,  red)

Mix in diced real salmon last.

1 lime.

1 lemon or lemon oil.

Several sandwiches.  Mix leftovers with bread to make salmon cakes.
