Welcome Readers

This blog is for us to share our passions about  the craft of writing and directing and making it happen in the entertainment industry — in movies, television, theatre, and the Web.  But none of that matters unless we have a coherent framework and spiritual foundation.  So this blog is also about coming up:  sharing the knowledge, skills, love, analysis and tools that can elevate and empower us and others.

Some ground rules:

No talking bad about people or their mammas just because you don’t like what they do or say.

I love a good debate.  So bring it like President Obama — make it  evidence-based.

Be real.  “Fantasy enslaves.  Reality liberates.”

Embrace diversity.  The image on this blog is where I grew up — on Riverside Drive at the edge of Harlem and Washington Heights in New York City.  My neighbors spoke Jewish, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Cuban, Southern Black, West Indian Black, Irish and everything in between.  I’m all about African American pride but blacks have a lot to teach and to learn from others.

Think global.  The U.S. is no longer the be-all, end-all.  Evolve or be destroyed.

Have a sense of humor.  Life is short.  A grin lightens things up.  A smile adds joy.  A good belly laugh adds two years to your life span.

Welcome to the party.

Your humble scribe,

Mildred
